the movie: Silver Linings Playbook

directed by: David O. Russell
starring: Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro

I really loved it! I”m glad I got around to seeing it. It was different than what I anticipated, but still so good.

the movie: Gravity

directed by: Alfonso Cuaron
starring: Sandra Bullock, George Clooney

Visually it looks so good that you forget it wasn’t actually filmed in space. It’s only 1 & 1/2 hours long but it has 100% of your attention the entire time. It’s fantastic.

after seeing Jeff Nichols's astounding Take Shelter, I expect nothing but amazement

The Movie: Pacific Rim

Directed by: Guillermo del Toro
Starring: Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day

Awesome visuals. The best 3D I’ve seen ever. Questionable plot, but who cares. It’s a movie about giant robots smashing stuff. See it.

The Movie: Hit & Run

Directed by: David Palmer & Dax Shepard
Starring: Dax Shepard, Bradley Cooper, Kristen Bell, Tom Arnold, Kristin Chenoweth

I heard it didn’t get great reviews. It wasn’t as bad as I expected, but still not great. Kristen Bell is still my favourite.

The Movie: Layer Cake

Directed by: Matthew Vaughn
Starring: Daniel Craig, Sienna Miller, Tom Hardy

Big fan of Craig, Hardy, and British gangster flicks. So naturally this is a great choice.

The Movie: The Professional

Directed by: Luc Besson
Starring: Jean Reno, Gary Oldman, Natalie Portman

The movie: 13 Assassins

Directed by: Takashi Miike
Starring:  Kôji YakushoTakayuki YamadaYûsuke Iseya

So fucking good! It really feels like one of the old school samurai movies from Kurosawa but with modern effects. Extremely awesome movie. A tad extreme / gorey, but totally in a good way.

The Movie: This Is The End
Directed by: Evan Goldberg & Seth RogenStarring: James Franco, Danny McBride, Seth Rogen, Jonah Hill, Jay Baruchel
It was really really funny. The cameos were spectacular, although I wish there had been more throughout the movie. Michael Cera was easily the best part. Worth seeing.

Started out weird, but it was intriguing enough. Had some funny moments, but lacked a solid conclusion.

The Movie: Side Effects

Directed by: Steven Soderbergh
Starring: Rooney Mara, Jude Law, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Channing Tatum

I didn’t know what to expect, I had only seen the trailer. It was really eerily shot, and had some good plot twists.

The Movie: The Hangover: Part III

Directed by: Todd Phillips
Starring: Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, Justin Bartha, John Goodman

Not as funny as the first one, or even the second one, BUT I thought it was a really good conclusion to the trilogy. It explained (bullshitted) a connection between all three movies, and it gives some resolution to the characters. All and all it was great. Todd Phillips is the man.
